Dear Korea #028

Dear Korea #028

I think this is more of a personal experience for me, if anything. Needless to say, it’s not surprising why my mother didn’t tell me the whole truth when it came to making me eat the stuff.

If you haven’t tried sundae (순대) yet, I highly recommend it. I know some people are put off by the whole idea of “blood sausage” (I know I was when I found out), but if you forget that fact and just try it, you may like it.

Based off of very true events. It’s more funny than it is offensive, really. It’s just a little funny to see how shocked some people look when they realize someone without blonde hair and blue eyes is from the United States. Keep on keepin’ on, taxi drivers!

On a side note, a face palm is harder to draw than it looks.

Also, did you know that Dear Korea has a Facebook Page? If you have a Facebook account, you should totally go and like it! Or not. I won’t cry if you don’t (maybe).

First off, I don’t have a problem with standing up for the elderly. If anything, it annoys me that younger middle school and high school kids just pretend as if they don’t see somebody that obviously needs the seat more than that.

With that being said, it seems like they always come right for me. Maybe I’m just paranoid. Honestly, I don’t mind. It just kind of stinks on those super long days when I can barely keep my head up.

On a side note, I apologize for the laziness that is the background of this strip.

Another one based on (multiple) true events. It didn’t help that it was a work day.

What basically happened was that a drunk man had been outside the apartment I live in, screaming “야!!!” (which translates into an informal version of “HEY!!!”) for about three hours. I think it’s safe to assume that it was over a woman, as there was a very angry looking lady sitting by the window he was yelling towards.

Oh Korean drama. I dislike you on and off the screen.

Totally based on true events. It doesn’t happen too often, but when it does…

Even though my friends and I can read Korean, some of those subtitles zip by. I have nothing but respect for anyone who can learn a language well enough to be able to read it so quickly.

Curious about what they’re saying in the third panel? Why not give it a guess?

I apologize for being a few hours late with this one. As you can tell, I took some artistic liberties with it (kind of).

Also, by no means am I complaining about my situation in Korea. I love being kept busy, but when it’s something one isn’t used to, it can sometimes get a little overwhelming. I also hope that this isn’t a slap in the faces of anyone who lives in parts of Korea where there isn’t a whole lot going on. I really do find myself quite lucky for being where I am, and I wouldn’t change it for anything at the moment.
