Dear Korea #091 – Running Through the Monsoon

:

Starting this week, I’ll be picking up some extra work in hopes of making some extra cash (at least for this month). While I’m hoping that this doesn’t mean awkward/late updates, I’m just writing this now as a warning. I’ll try to be good!

Korean summers are sometimes better known as monsoon season. When you’re not fighting off the dreaded heat, you’re probably getting caught up in rain somewhere. According to the weekly forecast in my area, it’s supposed to rain for the next five days. Boo.

Now, I dealt with a fair amount of rain back home in Texas. I figured that since I had gotten used to humid, rainy weather, it wouldn’t be too difficult to handle in Korea. I apparently forgot that not having a car combined with having to walk everywhere can make the whole experience a little different. When you have a car, you can get away with not having an umbrella on you at all times. That’s not so much the case in Korea.

The whole forgetting to bring an umbrella is a bad habit that I’m still trying to break. I get a little sad when I think of just how much money I’ve spent on umbrellas during the time I’ve been here. I get very sad when I think of how many I lost during the same time. I still miss my Bruce Lee one so very much..

Anyways, if you’re living on this side of the world, be sure to check the weather before heading out for the day! Heck, just be safe and keep a small umbrella on you for emergencies! I should probably start following my own advice.

Don’t even get me started on trying to do laundry during these months.
