Job Description

The Account Technology Strategist manages the technical relationship between Microsoft and the customers of FSI ATU. Provides compelling vision and drives strategic adoption of Microsoft platform architecture and technology to CIO level of persons in the customers. Drives Server revenue through positioning Microsoft technology at appropriate stages of the sales cycle. Be part of the core account team and assist in territory/account planning and closing of opportunities

Job Roles:

  • Establish strong relationships with CIO and other key technical decision makers within assigned accounts. Understand the technology landscape within the account and drive adoption of Microsoft architecture and technology.
  • Prospect and qualify new opportunities in customer organization that drive revenue, particularly in relation to Established and Emerging Server product groups.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining regular dialogue with extended account team across Service, TS, Solution Specialists, Technology Account Managers and Partner Account Managers for opportunities and account intelligence gathering. Also works closely and effectively with key partners to help drive their engagement in opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and execution of territory and account plan, understanding the political landscape and building an account opportunity map with the broader account team.
  • Identify, plan and implement reactive and proactive competitive activity as identified through relationships with key accounts and partners. Responsible for feeding back information to account team and subsidiary management on competitive activities

Results in Business Process:

  • Building strong business relationships that result in customer and partner satisfaction and loyalty
  • Highly effective engagement with account teams
  • Growth in Microsoft Desktop and Server revenue for assigned accounts
  • Renewal of Enterprise Agreements
  • Proof of concepts in Emerging Server products
  • Proportion of annuity based revenue
  • Partners actively engaged and driving revenues
  • Establish .NET and the Microsoft Integrated Platform as the preferred architecture in the customer accounts

Position Scope in Business Process:

  • Dedicated technical resource responsible for managing the technical relationships within one or more diverse and complex Microsoft accounts
  • Communicates and demonstrates the value of the Microsoft integrated platform
  • Demonstrates understanding of customer business needs and aligning MS products services, resources and solutions to meet these needs.
  • Integral part of account team that will develops and manages structured account engagement plans, according to customers’ needs and license lifecycle, taking advantage of available engagement prescriptions and tools.
  • Participates in joint planning for future growth of the customer by use of solutions.
  • Demonstrates how the customer is receiving value through Total Cost of Ownership
  • Proactively stay current on new technology trends and the value to your customers through research, technical journals, conferences and MS offerings
  • Makes insightful, timely decisions in the most difficult and often complex situations.
  • Consistently encourages others to apply “lessons learned” to current decisions.
  • Use a mixture of analysis, business acumen, experience and judgment to make high-level decisions frequently.
  • Decisions may assist in the immediate impact to Microsoft’s revenue.
  • Plans that identify opportunities, risks and resources necessary to accelerate business volumes.
  • Contributes to industry plans to improve the success of Microsoft in Financial Service Industry
  • Leads competitive intelligence gathering for account planning
  • Proactively manages multiple resources from across the business (TS, Solution Specialist, partners, etc.) to ensure a cohesive, consistent, productive “virtual team” facing the customer to address their needs.
  • Assists others to engage competition and increase MS share by sharing expertise, best practices and through peer coaching across other accounts
  • Be able to communicate technical positioning, value and benefits of the Microsoft platform while addressing competitive responses and objectives with customers
  • Proactively follows up on all customer issues and queries on time
  • Ensure escalation of issues take place to meet customer’s needs
  • Acts as a liaison between customers and Microsoft, provides a consistent MS interaction for the customer and makes significant, innovative contribution to product requirements.
  • Understands and innovatively uses all available MS resources and Partners with significant results that lead to increased productivity. Also responsible for facilitating cross-group collaboration among the virtual account team
  • Customer is used as an external reference. This includes but is not limited to written case study, early adoption reference site, and customer testimonial via video
  • Understands how the customer prefers to conduct business with partners/suppliers.
  • Achieves account quotas
  • Achieves business volumes while managing the role within the account which includes appropriate responsibilities and opportunities.
  • Identifies and engages competition to increase MS share in accounts.

Key Competencies/Knowledge

  • Ability to develop identify customer needs and concerns within the context of the customers environment
  • Excellent written, and verbal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills to demonstrate key technologies
  • Strong business instincts and a tenacity for driving revenue and programs to successful completion
  • Ability to articulate business issues, resource requirements, & technology requirements across
  • Microsoft and other technologies such as IBM Mainframe, J2EE, Unix, Oracle, DB2, and Linux
  • Must be able to drive strategic joint account planning with partners
  • Understanding of competitive strategies (preference for at least a deep understanding of at least 1
  • competitive technology)
  • Assists account manager with account planning and account.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage at CxO level specifically CIO and CFO

Qualification

  • 10+ yrs experience working as or with IT BDMs/TDMs in pre-sales or enterprise customers
  • Successful track record of achieving or exceeding customer satisfaction criteria as well as revenue targets if eligible
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft technologies and company focus
  • Demonstration of experience in calling and presenting to senior executives and BDMs within accounts
  • Knowledge and understanding of trends and issues in the development and infrastructure fields
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft licensing programs helpful
  • Knowledge of Financial Services Industry and it’s IT environment & strategies
  • B.A. or higher degree of university graduate with fluent English communication skill preferred.
