Kim's Song
by Quintain Bosch

1. Heaven’s Drain

I didn’t want to come to this world, but God, my grandfather and their friends played a football game.

I was the football!

God caught me and ran against my grandfather’s team.
He tripped over a stone!

I rolled and he lost me in a nearby drain. I came to earth through the drain in the sky.

It took a very long time.

God tried to find me, but he couldn’t. He pumped out the drain, but I had already slid down very far.

I lost my memory which I had with the family in the sky during my long trip down.

When I fell from the sky onto the ground, I cried a lot because the shock was so intense!

2. Where is Superman?

Superman was my hero when I was a little girl.

“Superman helps everyone who needs his help.”

“Have you ever seen him?”

“No, not yet. But I’m sure he will fly to my rescue if I’m in danger. Don’t you think so?”

“Well. . . What if Superman doesn’t come?”

“Let’s try.”

I was eager to meet him, so I dangled out of a third story window. I was in danger!

“Hey! Is he coming?!” I screamed.

“No! I can’t see him.”

“Is he coming?!”

“No!”

I couldn’t hold on any longer. “I’m going to fall! . . . Do you see him?”
“No, not yet!”

I cried out, “Where is he!”

“I don’t know!”

My father saw me by chance as he walked out of the post office. He scrambled up to the third floor and rescued me.

“What did you do that for?” Tears fell from his eyes as he hugged me. “You could have been killed!”

“Dad! Superman didn’t come to help me. Where is he?” I was shaking.

“Maybe he left earth,” my best friend said.

I looked up at my father’s sad eyes and hugged him again.

“No he didn’t,” I said.
