A Glimpse (poem)

i see her in my mind's eye

with a freedom i am rarely given

but with a reservation distilled in me

by the punishments of today's reality

i see her velvet locks cascade down the slender curve of her neck

the effervescent twinkle of her eyes

glisten with a moistness i long to embrace

Her thoughts permeate my mind like a gentle companion

i welcome her intrigue and abrupt honesty

i breathe her in

and i need not ever breathe again

i breathe her in

and my heart sees a peacefulness it is in awe of

she looks to me with an embrace

a glimpse she never reveals

a window to her most vibrant soul

entrusting it to my keeping

i protect it with all that I am

i long to hear her voice

it is music to my soul

it is fuel to my mind

it is magic to my heart

i breathe her in...someday...
