Moon-Viewing Hill

She was just seventeen
wanted to be a nun
but her fiery body rebelled-
her boyfriend had a red sports car
her hair flying in the wind.
Annabelle Lou wanted a tattoo
but not permanent-
like some discarded boyfriend
she could rub off at whim.
Depending which way the wind blew
angel or a devil
she was a hot number
a dichotomy
a paradox of Sunday church and
wild Saturday nights.
Half girl/half woman
like a centaur,
her breasts stuck out proudly
below that innocent face
her skin soft as buttermilk
her body edging to dance
a Spanish thoroughbred filly
breaking from the gate
a palomino running free
her mane fluttering
on angel wings
